Keeping employees satisfied in their roles can sometimes be a challenge. It’s not only important that they feel they’re an integral part of the team, but they must feel valued. When employees feel that they have a voice, and are being heard they understand that they are appreciated. Expressing appreciation can be done through rewarding employees for all the hard work that they put in each and every day. The key is to be actively engaged with employees. While technology has slowly taken over the workforce, rewarding employees does not have to be done over email or text message. Workers will better appreciate a hand written letter or note that details how appreciated they truly are. Take the time to grab a card from the store and write a nice message in there to let the employee know that their work does not go unnoticed. This is a nice surprise for anyone to find on their desk when they come in to start their shift.

When an employee has really been working overtime to keep the business afloat, nothing is more rewarding than some time off. Even just one day off can make all of the difference in the world for someone who has been putting in extra hours. If giving a full day of work off is not an option, give them the choice of taking a half of a day on a Friday. This is a reward that is sure to please many in the company.

If it’s not just one employee that you’re looking to reward, but rather an entire team then it’s time to get creative. Plan out a company wide activity that is sure to get the whole office talking. Activities such as a holiday party, an outdoor barbecue, or even tickets to a sporting event are greatly appreciated by most all employees. Not only is this an excellent way to reward the team, but it makes for an excellent bonding experience for the workers. It brings them closer together and allows them to get to know one another better on a personal level.
